I Do My Best, I Release the Rest

I addition, no, actually before, to my Bible reading each early morning, I listen to at least one 5-minute guide to relaxation from Simple Habit.  I found this meditation app years ago, but recently for Lent I thought it would be good to use some meditation habits with my prayer and Bible reading.  So I downloaded it again.  This sort of gets me in focus for the Bible reading and clears my mind of some of the jumble.

The meditation habit I am listening to right now is called "Let It Go" by Peter Bonanno.  In the second 5-minute meditation, he has one breathing and being aware of one's breaths, and as we breathe in we are to think "I do my best", and on the out-breath "I release the rest."

Man, is that hard for me!  Is it hard for you?  I am tenacious, like my mother's many Boston Terriers.  I want to hang on to things, even when I know, I KNOW, that is hurtful to hang on to stuff.

Have you ever been in an argument with your husband or wife, and you simply want to get that last word in?  You want to NOT let go, even when you know you are in the wrong.

Another thing.  There is just so much we can do to help someone...do our best to help, but if they won't take our advise, even when it's right, we cannot force them to do it.  We can bitch, bitch, bitch at them...but is that really helping?  Is anything changing?

And in the end of either scenario, who are we actually helping?  Not ourselves, that's for sure...and not the spouse or that friend or family member.  We are all hurt.  That's all.

So, I know I need to always take a step back, breathe in and think "I do my best", breathe out and think "I release the rest".  And then I must actually do it.  RELEASE THE REST...THE TRASH...THE MISGUIDED ADVICE...THE ARGUMENT.

It's on the order of what I have tried to do before, Let go...and let God.

Bye for now.

No One Owns the Church But God

I wrote a blog here, regarding my feelings about the Church and who owns the Church.  It disappeared as I saved it, and I believe, perhaps, this was God's way of saying I should not write it...so I won't do it again.  But please ponder, who REALLY own's God's Holy Church...God, of course, and we should always listen to what He wants...not what we want.

Jesus replied, “This is the most important: ‘Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

Who is our neighbor?  Maybe that should be the title here!
