Great-Grandma's First Flower

This is John Carl, our oldest great-grandson...at 6 months.  He is a bright-eyed boy and is growing larger and sweeter each day.  He is named for his Uncle John and for his grandfather, Carl.  His mommy has begun a play group for him with an emphasis on his being bi-lingual in English and Spanish.  His grandma, Carolyn, loves to take care of him and have him spend the night with her.  Both of us crochet things for him and purchase books for him.

Our Little John is not the first in our family with that name.  Here are the other Johns directly down to him.

These is my great-grandfather, Johann Ficke.
Here is my grandfather, John Ficke.
Here is my father, John McBee Ficke.
Here is Little John's uncle John Christian.

My name is Johnette Sue Ficke Seibert.  I was, of course, named for my father.  I also have two cousins, John Ronald Johnson and John Poe, named for my father and his father.  Raf also had a brother named John Clifford Seibert.

The name John, or Johann in German, means God Is Gracious. The origin of the name John is Hebrew. This is the culture in which the name originated, or in the case of a word, the language.

So the name John is a very strong name.  And here is the most recent photo of our great-grandson, John.
